Sally Kavanagh

Waterford Hockey Club established an Honorary Life Membership award at its 2021 Annual General Meeting and ratified its first recipient as Sally Kavanagh. In February 2021 all club members were invited to submit nominations for the Honorary Life Membership award along with their reasons for nominations by 31st March 2021.

 

Sally was nominated by club members who expressed the following reasons for the nomination:

Sally Kavanagh has been a member of Waterford Hockey Club since 1973, 48 years. During this time, she has been a player, umpire, coach and committee member.

She has held a variety of management committee positions throughout her hockey volunteering career with Hockey Ireland, Munster Hockey and Waterford Hockey Club, including the presidency of club and province, and also represented Munster as a player.

She has been a major contributor to the advancement of Munster Hockey and Waterford Hockey Club. Her knowledge and experience will be something our club will benefit from for many years to come.

She represented Waterford Hockey Club and Munster Branch at Hockey Ireland level on numerous occasions.

She was a school’s coach and selector for South East Schools.

She has been a valuable member of the Technical Table when required at interprovincial and international matches.

 

Based on the set criteria and the considered evaluation, Sally Kavanagh qualified, was recommended by the sub-committee as the inaugural recipient of the Honorary Life Member award and ratified at the 2021 Waterford Hockey Club AGM.
